Pertties is socially awkward and extremely frustrated after having spent years trying to piece together the fragments that she has left of her childhood memories. Knowing that they only have each other, the two team up to escape from the prisons that they have created within themselves (as well as the others that they constantly seem to land in) and in the process find themselves on a journey fraught with danger, demons, and death.

Suspenseful page turner! I enjoyed this book and felt I was in it while reading. The plot and character are well molded and make for very good reading. I tried to pick a place to put the book down after reading several chapters but was so curious as to what happened next I wound up reading on. I'm on my second read now.Product details

Pertties is a teenage girl with no memory before the last 5 years of her life when she was found by an elderly gentleman on the side of the road. Having no memories, no home, and no apparent family she is fostered by her rescuer and his wife. Not content with her small town life, she feels something is missing and she is meant for bigger and better things…if only she had known those bigger things would find her when she least expected it and pull her into a fantastical world she had never imagined existed.
Thrust into a world of fantasy and mythical creatures Pertties, accompanied by her faithful troll friend Demented who she has no memory of, is forced to survive while trying to uncover the lost memories of her life and avoiding the dangers she escaped from years before. Pertties is a strong character who faces the challenges before her exceedingly well while also adding an element of tenderness to those she comes across. The banter between her and Demented is comical and you can really get a feel of their friendship.
This was a very well-written and easy to read book. K. D. Montgomery was very descriptive in her writing allowing the reader to visualize with clarity a multitude of elements in the book. However, though I did very much enjoy the book, I felt there were many portions of the story that could have been expanded on. Overall, I think it was a fantastic young adult read and I would definitely be interested in reading further installments in this story to see some of my questions answered.
Pertties has no idea who she was or what happened to her prior to 5 years ago. All she knows is her every day is practically the same with school, work, and home. If she wasn’t already having a bad day the fact that she wrecked her car surely didn’t help. If that wasn’t bad enough falling below ground into a world of creatures she had no idea existed didn’t make matters any better. Thrown before the troll queen she discovers memories she didn’t know she had and a most unlikely friend from her past.
The originality of the story keeps your interest, however I had a little trouble warming up to the main character. A bit more in relation to the other characters around her would have been great. I would have loved to see more of the relationship between Pertties and her foster parents. You can relate to and feel her bad day as everyone has them, but what made it easy or difficult to make the decision to stay and continue with her quest? Everyone wants to feel along with their characters every step of the way.
This is an interesting read that young fantasy readers will enjoy. Pertties is not the most likely of heroines and you read along wondering if she is meant for something more than her mundane life up top? I did enjoy the story and it is a great example proving that you are never too old for a young adult read. If you are looking for a story of trolls, mystical creatures, and an unlikely friendship look no further. Enjoy.
The Demented Adventures of Princess Pertties by K.D. Montgomery is a fantastic book that will keep you on the edge of your seat as it did me. You follow a teenage girl who has lost her memory. She is thrust into an adventure that leads her to a far away land and her memories.
In Pertties adventure you meet a slew of different characters, from Trolls, to nymphs, to some mystical creatures I have never heard of before. K.D. describes each character with such detail, as you would think they were standing right next to you; you can see them, smell them, and even hear their voices. K.D. describes the lands in the same fashion.
I have read a lot of books, a lot more then is on my blog as I have been reading for years; with that said this is the first book that I can think I have read that focused so much on Trolls. I just had to throw that out there. I am quite surprised that I ran across a book that is completely unpredictable, this is one of them.
Pertties is the least likely heroin that you would see in a book. If I were to compare it to something I have read before it would be like reading Pierce Anthony "Xeneth" series but where the main character is completely human thrust into a magical land.

This book is very well written and can be read by young adult readers. The story starts off a little slow but gets very interesting around chapter 4. I usually do not read these type of books as I prefer romance novels but this book came highly recommended by a friend and therefor I am recommending it for others to read. It is very easy to follow the characters and kind of get a mental pic of what they look like from the descriptions the writer uses. Her use of describing what is going on is amazing. It is almost as though you are in the story and can hear the water crushing against the rocks, the wind blowing, the hot fires....and so on... I am hoping the writer has more to continue on with the story line.
